Occasionally, a short course of steroids tablets may be needed to treat your child if they have an asthma attack. They are very good at bringing severe symptoms under control quickly and giving your child some relief.

As part of your child’s asthma treatment, many health professionals will fill in what is known as an asthma action plan. This will include details about how to help your child manage their asthma effectively, the type of medicines they are using, how to manage and monitor their symptoms, and how to respond in the event of an emergency or asthma attack.
