What is eczema in children?

Eczema is a medical condition that causes a child’s skin to become red, itchy, cracked and dry. It is a long term condition in many people although it can improve over time, especially in children.
Eczema is a common, non-contagious, skin condition that affects one in ten children in Ireland. There are a number of different types of eczema with the most common being atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis.
