What are the symptoms of head lice?
A noticeable symptom of head lice is an itchy scalp, which is an allergic response to the lice themselves. It is possible for your little one to have lice for a significant period of time without developing an allergic response, or even to have them for a period of time without developing any noticeable symptoms at all. Some children may develop a small rash on the back of their neck in reaction to lice droppings.
An itchy scalp alone does not necessarily mean that your little one has head lice – an accurate diagnosis can only be made if a live louse is found.
